the long time

Took me many years of laundry to realize not to put things I like in the dryer. Let them hang dry and the fabric and the fit will be more enjoyable. Took years to understand how to play four note chords comfortably diatonically, it just didn’t occur to me until listening last year to Errol Garner and a switch turned on. Took a long time to intentionally avoid the fast lane and relax into the slow one, even behind trucks. In the fast lane, the odds of longevity are against you. Took a long time to like Warren Zevon and Liz Phair, I didn’t like their productions but then in both cases I got hit over the head by their greatness and what I disliked sonically vanished, I listen to them over and over and over. A woman I’m teaching piano to complains about how long it is taking for her to get where she wants to go. Took a long time to see how natural it is for things to take time.
