lies.

My daughter wants a lie detector. She brings it up regularly. Last night I said they don’t work. Yes they do she insisted, they can tell your blood pressure and your sped up heartbeat when you lie. But some people are so good at lying I said that their blood pressure and heart beat won’t change and some people, when they tell the truth get nervous about being on a lie detector and their heart could speed up or their blood pressure could behave differently. This wasn’t welcome so I asked her to practise lying to me which she did unsuccessfully. If you laugh while lying that’s a fail but kid it’s not a bad thing that you are not good at lying. Then I said I’m really your mother, my real name is Greta and I keep my real teeth in a safe upstairs. I didn’t smile or laugh. My heartbeat remained regular. She saw through my wicked deception proving she herself is already a lie detector. I wouldn’t mind deposing some of the high rotation music artists on the radio stations she favours. Fun to see how the meter reads when being asked any of these, i) what is A440? ii) what’s the difference between a rack tom and a floor tom? iii) what’s a walking bass? iv) can a diatonic harp be played chromatically? v) what’s the publisher’s share vi) who wrote the book of love?
