I liked the interview with historian Tom Holland so much, after I looked for his books in the library. First I found was Dominion. I read a book many years ago about the middle ages which tried to inhabit the minds of people from then, I forget the title but it opened up a different kind of understanding in me. As a teen there was a film I saw called Tree of Wooden Clog which also had that affect, putting you into the space of another time and place. What awesome works of art to do that. Notation resonates like that, when you learn something from anyone long dead it’s like their mind is present again and you can observe it.
