repotting

Have to transplant the sansevierias. They do well in shade and give off oxygen at night but won’t grow more unless repotted. Slowly realizing separating doesn’t make more room like I assume, they are always popping up more and more which in itself is pretty amazing to experience. Rethinking my plans and will instead cluster them in larger pots. Tried teaching Autumn Leaves to a new pianist. She goes for incorrect fingering. I react with the correct fingering. She makes the same error 7 times in a row and I correct her 7 times too. It’s an ordinary thing when you are first learning anything new and it frustrates her. When I first learned to drive a car there was no way I could try the highway. Even an empty parking lot was frightening to coordinate. Since I am the more experienced person, I know the value of getting her to use the more sensible fingering but it’s also worth trying to understand her thinking. It’s a big turn off to have your fingers corrected over and over, might make you decide fuck it I don’t want to do this anymore. At a certain point maybe the teacher should shut up and leave it to nature, if we’re risking her continued interest. Maybe it’s more important she keep enjoying it now. How else would one develop the incentive to work at awkward fingering unless they also develop pleasure in playing. Maybe that’s how we repot people.
