I liked Mani’s advice which was to make five episodes. I also liked Rob and Soozi’s, to get out of Regina. The guy who owned Gold Mountain told me his advice about Bob Dylan and I didn’t find it believable. My father’s advice was to sell half and I’m so glad for it. L. Stu’s advice is always worth stopping and seriously considering, he brings a lot of objectivity and experience to his decisions. Matt’s advice was to lie in order to be on TV, thereby acquiring publicity for my music… it didn’t make sense to me but I admired his non stop scheming. The dislikeable A&R guy in 1987 had advice about cassettes, like his whole talent was summed up insisting side A be longer than side B so it auto reverses in a car deck easily. I was reading bits of writing advice from famous authors and Margaret Atwood stood out, she said your job is to make the reader turn the page.
