Some years ago there was an idea I read in an interview with Ray Manzarek where he said your own life was an opportunity to be a detective, to try and solve the murder mystery, namely your own eventual death from life. He added that the mind is where to play detective, that consciousness is the whole enchilada and to believe enlightenment is something externally located is like waiting to greet leprechauns. It’s right now, it’s the space you already occupy and to keep noticing how consciousness works is in fact an unending opportunity to reach mecca or nirvana or enable the Mondoshawan’s goal. It isn’t about getting airfare to unpronounceable locations, you don’t have to realize Light My Fire is in A flat Dorian in order to enjoy it and make use of it .
