I was reading about the inner state of humans as a struggle between consciousness and instinct and it resonated as a decent clear way to address ordinary state on studies of control. Instinct might want the Hawaiian donut, consciousness might want the celery juice but neither is wrong, it’s just cacophony between both grabbing at the steering column. No winner, both ever reaching, perhaps a more important thing to see than picking sides and fighting over who is more entitled. It’s the Stones, no it’s the Beatles, it’s the Weeknd no it’s Drake, yawn. To be disinclined to view what John Lennon addressed in his final record, I’m Just Watching the Wheels go Round and Round, is to stay invested in believing Madonna’s better than Mariah and miss the whole point of understanding something bigger at work.
