the performer who followed the thought

The thing about consciousness is that there is no space separate from it. You aren’t aware of yourself while not being you, anytime you are aware of yourself you are also you. Sometimes performers confront this as an aspect of performance. While standing before an audience, they might veer from the very activity they doing and ruin their own show by wondering about their mind. Will I remember my lyrics? Will I recall the next chord? How can I be performing right now and thinking about my parking ticket and the cowboy boots of the person in the front row? In such a situation they must halt such thoughts but who exactly does one appeal to? In essence is what controls you you or some other force? How can it we are positioned to worry about whether we are in fact in charge of what we are doing?
