“Pa send me money now, I’m gonna make it somehow, I need another chance.” I’m not so thrilled to talk spreadsheets and HST, when I was asked to teach another course this fall about artists and how they start their business. I’d rather look at how they survived brokesville including those who never did. Since there is no sure fire method to travel from A to B, why pretend there is? And wouldn’t it be more fun to compare stories of being without the means? Is it not more relatable to where students actually are? Maybe a whole section on methods of pleading for help, Francis Bacon imploring his dealer to lend him money or Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl bridge.
