The online interview between Chris Hedges and Matt Taibbi. On one level illuminating journalism exposing the intricacies of how corruption lives. They address Russiagate, which amazes me considering I am one of the many who bought it. The source cited was called Hamilton 68. They had all the proof of how Russia was behind everything…but no one was allowed to specifically inspect their “Russian bots” until Elon Musk bought Twitter and didn’t care about honouring secrecy established between government agencies and social media. Most of the sources were ordinary people and their personal conspiracy theories and feelings of Trump hate. I hated Trump too but the point behind all the serious media and all the serious academics, referencing Hamilton 68, was asserting the truth that Trump worked for the Kremlin. Who can bear to know the people in charge might be corrupt. But who doesn’t know it? People want a pill that presumes to make one control themselves because the idea that you do not necessarily control your own mind might be nightmarish. On some level people suspect their own inner self is not necessarily looking out for them. I go back and forth on what Leonard Cohen meant, sardonic or sincere, Democracy is Coming…to the USA.
