About ten years ago I got an email with a pitch to pay 15k for someone to market your music into enormous guaranteed worldwide success. Later, I wrote it up sarcastically in my blog, as though I heard from a Nigerian Prince, (a well known scam at the time). I searched the company online and found published criticisms substantiating them as a scam. Then I got a letter from the guy behind it threatening to sue me. I guess he had a Google Alert whenever his name was published. The email started by acknowledging my making fun, then flattering my music, then nicely informing he would sue me and insinuating others had been sued. I took it down. My sarcasm wasn’t worth lawyers. Yesterday I searched the guy and his company again, they are nowhere, no trace of him anywhere. Even tried his number with the Vancouver area code. It was disconnected. None of it any longer exists. Then it hit me, he’s probably in the bahamas sunbathing on his yacht enjoying the royalties from spreading goodwill.
