Jamie Ward sent me a song that was done as an AI experiment using a Paul McCartney filter on his voice (something like that?) It sounded Beatle-esque or at least McCartney’s aesthetic. I didn’t like knowing about the non human part of it, but I do imagine these effects taking their place among next generations, maybe occupying the most significant places as did the clarinet once upon a time, and the electric guitar later and then drum loops. It also occurs to me all the history of recorded music could also be understood as AI. If we reanimated Socrates or Mona Lisa and play them Daft Punk, wouldn’t they find it very confusing if we said it was music? Same for whatever Photoshop or Illustrator skills you have. Which does not mean one does not have those skills but depending on who is evaluating it, they are not necessarily understood.
