It is easier if you do not avoid the problems. Had a meeting with a student. She missed the first week of classes, flustered about what she did not yet sign up for, which I wrote her about. I assign dates for those who do not show up. I put them on stage immediately. Most people, especially inexperienced performers, do not ever want that. We are in the same boat because I never want to teach people who aren’t there. After I congratulate them on their upcoming performance it results they desire suddenly to reach me and discuss the course. This was her situation. She said she selected it because she assumed it would be easy and now it looks like the worst. She apologized. I assured her I was not offended and even agree, it is in fact very easy. You just have to do the work. I learned this from returning to school because I never previously understood school. I thought the high marks people were born that way. Now I know it is not true. They just showed up, completed the work and complimented the teacher’s new haircut. This student doesn’t even have to like my shoes, just keep a journal and perform from it. Even if you do not do the work well, the act of doing it is all, plus the teacher has to acknowledge your effort.
