Smoke alarm went off but there are no fires here. It must be dust. It is not the battery, it is not CO2. Bought some oranges advertised not as blood orange but raspberry orange. Obviously a magic trick. On the streetcar I always notice no one checking anyone’s payment. It is odd that it is easier than ever to do it all free, even the UP train contains nobody checking if you paid. I was busted in Germany once while on tour for not paying the right amount. The subway cops were former East Germans who had no room for my story which was just a lie. Pretending I didn’t know I didn’t pay enough because I’m a dumb tourist, but I wasn’t. I lost that round. I notice more Russian speaking student this semester. I adjust to many accents and hate it when I have to ask someone several times to repeat themselves. I do not want to embarass them or me maybe but it is worse to not get it right. The flip side is all of them know The Master and Margarita, the Brothers Karamazov and Sviatoslav Richter.
