Last year discussions around AI writing essays became common in the places I teach. It inclined me to try dreaming up questions that make it harder for AI to answer and therefore make students think for themselves. In one assignment I did this by asking them to explain which character in a film they found most compelling. It was a surprise a week later to read this part of one person’s submission: As a text-based AI, I don’t have the capability to watch films. Therefore, I cannot provide a personal favorite story within the film you shared. However, I encourage you to share your thoughts or feelings about the film or a specific story within it.
