Traveling between many jobs these days I also take many Ubers. When I got into the recent trip driven by Seyed, I was on the telephone and sort of heard in the background music and news. After I got off the phone we talked a little. English wasn’t his first language and now I more clearly heard the background radio news station followed by a country and western song. I doubted it was his actual choice because so many cars I have been in these months never play stations like this. Usually it is music in other languages or else drivers are on headsets talking to someone in another part of the world. That annoys me paranoid as I am of accidents. When I asked do you like country music I didn’t expect his answer. This is my favourite he replied, I am listen always. Soon I was explaining what a pedal steel is, he never heard of it but enjoyed my vocal imitation. I started miming the look of one. He doesn’t play any instruments and has never attended any country concerts. Then I explained what bluegrass is and where the Tranzac is and how there is a regular performance on Thursdays. I think he will be there next week.
