As I work away on the story I’m writing for school, sometimes I solve feelings of boredom by rejigging the timeline. Inserting events and disregarding linear orders. Sometimes this also is a solution for a song. Recently took something and unsatisfying and played last verse first. It unexpectedly changed things for the better. Pulp Fiction, Akira Kurosawa and Margaret Atwood’s The Blind Assassin all made me notice how good it is to consider linearality as just one more method instead of a rule.
