I went down a George Benson rabbit hole. Breezin’ was a significant part of my teen life. Now as we live in the YouTube world, where one can be like Picard in Star Trek saying “computer Earl Grey” I love that I can ask for anything and often get it, “YouTube, Benson, Affirmation” poof more than one version of him doing it live, more than one person even demonstrating how to do it on piano. I am so happy to be living in these times. And the sheet music says José Feliciano. Who knew? José wrote Affirmation. I want to try it out at the open stage along with my horribly inept Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner arpeggios. Nothing improves your relationship to a song as much as failing before a live crowd.
