I played Sam’s song at the open stage. I can’t remember the lyrics. I wrote just the last word to every sentence on a piece of paper. It worked. I played it as a series of 10ths. I first heard broken 10ths in Keith Jarrett’s Köln concerts and forever tried to use them even though my hands can only comfortably span a 9th. I like his last verse the most “I don’t want to be the one to have you for a memory/ I don’t want to be the one knows you never think of me/ I don’t want to be the one to see you with somebody new/ I just want to be the one, the one who falls in love with you”
