In the book by Daniel Kahneman, he addresses many psychological studies. I see parallels between these and states of piano improvisation. One doozie by Richard Nisbett and Eugene Borgida on attribution and the psychology of prediction. How people overemphasize personality-based explanations for the behavior of others while underestimating situational factors. How people think they make predictions and how they actually do. Ignoring statistical information in favor of details about the individual. Dismissing data for bias. It is a variation of not understanding to practice slowly because trying it fast makes you think you are that good but only results in the mistakes crystalized.
