I collect French versions of English songs and try learning them to help me speak French. It is a long time learning a second or third language though as a boy I went to Hebrew school and I bet I could acquire Hebrew without too much struggle considering my mind contains a the preexisting lexicon. My fave currently is Ca M’avance à Quoi, a very amazing take on Ms. Fricker’s You Were On My Mind. In second place still is Oui Carolyn – you know it as Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond but isn’t that great? Oui Carloyn instead of Sweet Caroline? And in third Les Baronets version of Your Mother Should Know which is the easiest for me to follow, requires the least amount of inner translation, La Même Chanson.
