I am reading the short stories of Chava Rosenfarb. She is amazing and I part of her trilogy about the Lodz Ghetto which destroyed me and made me search out what else she did in her life. I wasn’t expecting these stories to be this good. Like discovering Harry Nilsson as a teenager in the basement of Kelly’s on portage ave. It was just the liner notes that intrigued me. i took a chance not having ever heard of him and not expecting to be 100% destroyed from the first chord of Spaceman. That’s how good Chava Rosenfarb’s writing is. Vivid descriptions of the lives of prisoners and survivors of genocide starting loves over in Canada in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Angles and insights about life I have wondered about but not encountered in literature. I have read Isaac Balshevis Singer, but who identifies with the same community but she has a different shocking and dirty way of telling it like it is.
