as above

There is an odd duality in which I can practice trying to do something on a piano and I will increase my ability over time and yet if I try to change myself, my behavior or my thinking, far from the same results. Never even close. I must conclude I am not in control of this thing that George Harrison once called I, Me Mine. That’s the thing, one can control interacting with the physical but can it be done with the internal or is the internal not something ever under our control in the first place?

  1. Good question — as interviewees often say. Practice had to be just as consistent, in the second case, to be as effective. That’s where I fall down.
