free speech

When I marked Lina’s songwriting journal I enjoyed the spectrum of writing that went beyond just songs: The way I see it the free speech issue is intense. It should be unfiltered say some of my friends while others believe someone must protect people from what’s false or vulgar. The protectionist thinking used to appeal to me but I wasn’t thinking about who can abuse those powers and I do think about that now or to put it another way I think about authoritarianism. You can talk about every government’s virtues and abuses but free speech is still a radical progressive idea, many forces freaked out about it. There was a reason they didn’t like jazz or be bop or rock or punk rock or hip hop. The freedom to explore is healthier than deciding a person or a committee should gate-keep permission or worse, put you in jail you for saying words.
