I am seriously close to breaking down and buying an older Mac to replace my ancient Mac. This means I will finally move closer to the year 2026, although I will still be several years behind and arriving by covered wagon. My computer is expected to record songs, edit music, compose film scores, run virtual instruments, mix audio, edit videos, design posters, write books, answer emails, book tours, teach classes, create invoices, advertise concerts, maintain mailing lists, upload performances and communicate with every venue in Canada, sometimes simultaneously. It does all this while making the faint mechanical sound of an elderly man attempting to rise from a low sofa. A newer computer would be ideal, but an older computer seems more appropriate. I don’t want to shock myself by entering the present all at once.
