Animal Slaves

I was in Copenhagen a few years ago at the invitation of a philosophy professor at a Copenhagen College to show my films and sing my songs. He thought I would add to their conference discussions on outside the box ways to present ideas. At the end of the weekend, they took me out for dinner and one of his associates, a woman who grew up in the country, commented that people who have pets engage in slavery vs. the way animals are free on the farm where she grew up. I had not considered that line of thought. When I returned to Toronto, whenever my cat cried I thought about the unnatural conditions I created for her. I have no solution to this but like the fact that just a few words said at the right time in the right way can cause many other thoughts to take up new positions.
