This Train version by Sister Rosetta Tharpe
That’s The Way God Planned it by Billy Preston
It Ain’t Necessarily So by George Gershwin
 That’s Why I Love Mankind
Never knew for sure what John Lennon meant in his God song, “God is a concept by which we measure our pain”. Like did he mean the more upset people become the more they turn to the idea of God as something to alleviate their struggle? And the less they have pain the less they identify with talk about God? Since the sentence contained an acknowledgement of God as a concept probably accurate to say Lennon saw God as an idea. I like that Gershwin also had a reflective lyric in It Ain’t Necessarily So. There has been no God talk with my daughter since she was born and now she is almost 6, I’m sure it is coming and maybe when she does ask I’ll offer a randomized musical response, see where it goes from there.
