Directors give you clues but you have to constantly try to decode what they mean. Also they don’t necessarily know what they mean. Isn’t that great.
The hardest part about scoring a film is trying to keep my own taste in check which mostly never can I do. I watch it a zillion times I get identified with it and have instincts about colouring it.
