A few years ago I had a problem with one of my hands and the sequence of Doctors I saw inspecting this led to a 3am appointment at a hospital where I had an MRI for a few minutes. It was interesting to learn that these machines are in so much demand that people utilize the imaging round the clock but even more interesting was when we were almost ready to proceed they came to offer me earplugs. I asked why I and they explained the sound was very loud and distressing to people. I put them on and lay down on the table, my arm extended so that my hand entered the cavity and then the machine started doing its loud blurting out of single bursts of sound without any coherent rhythm. Industrial ambient music. Afterward, I told the staff that I knew people who make music like this and perform it in front of other people who pay money to experience it. They laughed at me like I was a strange old guy who for some reason need to make up a strange story. Best to humour me and get onto to the 3:30 appointment.
