Crazy right wing family friend started explaining to me what great guys Doug Ford and Brad Wall are. I didn’t comment on cue when he left space for me to agree with his take. He paused and said oh right you are to the left of that, that’s ok. A couple days later he wrote to tell me he is a red tory and that he gets into trouble with his contemporaries over his feelings about social issues. One time on the CBC afternoon show, callers from Ontario were making confessions of how strange their musical taste can sometimes go. One woman called in said her guilty pleasure was listening to Tom Waits and she has to keep that secret from her friends. This on air confession was made as if most people would understand how radical she was.
