Sparks fly when the class discusses politics in song. Most of them identify left but at least two are right wing and maybe three are ambivalent about everything political. My favourite among the “bad songs” this year was the one by a young man from China who wrote a propaganda song. I didn’t see it coming in terms of what a “bad song” might be, but he knocked it out of the ballpark. Lyrics on how great we are, singing this song with our superior values. Guess I need to balance it out with an Ayn Rand rocker. It might be time to finally submit to Neil Peart’s lyrics.
