marx formulas

He had formulas for everything; he liked math. In the Karl Marx course I took in 2018, one thing I found amusing was his love of equations. Surplus value divided by labour value results in profit rate. A lot of musicians will show up to load their equipment check their sound at 5 or 6pm for a show that starts between 8 and midnight. They might spend 6 – 8 hours to do that 45 minute set. They will earn between $20 and $100. Those would be negative rates of return. If their luck changes a very opposite experience could happen but that isn’t the norm. The teacher I studied with loved quoting his formulas but he lost me. I couldn’t clearly follow them and just wondered most of the time whether actions really worked to view as formulas. I can’t say I get it but I do love data, objective data. At the Tranzac AGM Sarah and I discussed low turnout and though she sounded sad about it I thought it’s data, and that tells us something substantial. It means something about what we are doing and what is or isn’t happening. Then I played the open stage, an improvisation. I felt so certain about what was going on for the audience and was so surprised after I stopped and realized everything I imagined was just me imagining.
