Sometimes you can listen to the sounds of everything all around you as if it is a song. Sometimes you could also hear yourself, the speaking to yourself about yourself, also like a song or any least repetitive lyrics. There is a line of thought that suggests everything people create is a manifestation of what’s already within them. When I first encountered that sort of talk the writer was addressing dictatorships, describing details about the dynamics of dictators and at the end of the piece they questioned isn’t there a dictator inside of you vying for power? That seemed true. Then they added, aren’t there revolutionary forces trying to over throw those same dictators? And again that seemed true. Pretty well every time they said such and such is also inside of you I could see it, makes me rethink the biblical line “as above so below” instead might be “as outside so inside”.
