maybe they follow maybe they react with non sequiturs. more and more, taking the musical experience of improvising and re-contextualizing it in non musical life. no difference. the art of listening to what someone says is exactly the same art of engaging improvisationally with musicians. can be seen in conversation with anyone. in fact might be the other way around. does one listen to the statement of the other or interrupt, compelled to speak way before they finish. or hold your ideas until they are complete, assuming you still remember your idea when they finish. are you playing together which is powerful or performing in separate worlds more concerned about your own statements than listening to each other.
