His twin brother, Dracula, attended the jam sessions and didn’t share any of his brother’s fears of change. He thought it was a good thing, nothing to be afraid of. David said you don’t understand. If I stick with this I might never get back to playing the ordinary way, could get lost on an island where nothing else makes sense except for not playing the way I used to. Imagine how you would feel if you might lose everything. Dracula said you’re afraid of your identity changing as if it was something you control to begin with. Yeah that’s sort of right, replied David but I do control my identity. You don’t control anything, snapped back his brother, you don’t know what’s going to happen next, nobody does. You can check the forecast but it just reports about the weather and nobody can control it. It’s the freedom of free music that’s screwing you up because it has more to do with nature than imposing rules you ordinarily adhere to about what’s right and wrong. The fact is right and wrong are inventions to begin with, that’s what’s upsetting you about your future and your past. How can you say right and wrong are inventions? said David defensively. How can you say they aren’t? Said Dracula vampiricaly.
