I stood in line a long time, the show meant a lot. There were two girls before me who had waited longer and one of them, the one with the hat, offered me some orange. We got talking and they had seen the band once before in England. They were sisters and had family in Manchester. They asked me if I thought Donna Haraway was right about the chthulucene and I answered yes, I don’t think we’re separate from nature. Why not? asked the hatless one. Because nature created us, we didn’t come from outer space and even if we did, outer space is nature too, right? So, you’re into the chthulucene? I guess so. Because you don’t think we’re separate from nature. Right again. But we are so separate from nature, nothing else can understand what’s going on like human beings. Can you pronounce it? I don’t think so, I doubt anybody can, accurately that is. When we saw them in Manchester they sung about the anthropocene and then the chthulucene, so you’re in for a treat. Right, one more pronunciation mystery solved. Exactly! they were in unison. Do you write songs? Yes. Are they about outer space? Not really, more about inner space. Oh, that’s cool, what’s your favourite inner space? That’s not an easy answer. Why not? Because it might be that the premise that there is a you occupying an inner state, is actually not based on anything true. Wow, you’re going to love the band.
