I’m auditioning green teas. Have gone through five. Lung Ching, Appleberry Aswagandha, some others I don’t recall the names. I don’t know what I’m doing. Also bought one called Gunpowder because if you find an apple called Pink Lady how can’t you? Nothing has amazed me, but my friend the connoisseur gave me a couple samples of green teas mixed with toasted brown rice. She hands it over like offering keys to her vintage Neve console. A guy wrote me from Alberta, he said I auditioned him to be my drummer in the mid 90s. I didn’t remember then he added there was no kick drum pedal and he had to improvise. That jogged something in the old synaptic cobwebs, alas he didn’t get the job. I knew a woman who was an actress a great actress. She would go on auditions all the time and later tell me the bulk of other people auditioning were models. Seemed so insulting that she had made great efforts to learn the text, get up early, at her own expense travel and acquire whatever the clothes of the character. I sort of auditioned for Wilco without ever knowing it. Ron Sexsmith asked me to join him for the Another Roadside Attraction tour and Wilco was also on the line up and I knew Jay from earlier years playing Chicago. Next thing you know they asked me to sit in with them each night and I did and it was fun. A couple months later the drummer called and asked if I would like to do a tour. I said yeah for like a month sure, he said no like for a year or two. I said no, I wasn’t into that at that time. If only it was a month.
