grocery store

Now the grocery store has a giant framed KISS album being auctioned off. Previously I’ve seen it go from Tragically Hip to Rolling Stones to Rush. Pretty sure whoever is in charge of this was not born this century or the 90s or 80s. I sure am amazed by Kanye West’s first three albums. I keep returning to them and marvelling at the range of ideas, the balance of instrumentation and the ear candy. Never in a million years would have discovered any of this, based on him in the media. I had no interest at all except I wanted to do due diligence for the songwriting class. Awesome surprise. Also listened to Ellen McIlwaine’s hippy record from the 60s produced by Tom Wilson of Bob Dylan, Mothers of Invention & Sun Ra fame. She covers The Letter by the Boxtops. I’m the only guy at the grocery store who would bid on it.

  1. wait, they had ellen w’s record up for bidding? no. Kiss the first album where they’re in suits looked cool, but then the cartoon covers. one character’s platform boots appeared to made of long incisors. i thought it might hurt some of those ladies on the floor.
