A guy played piano at the open stage and just before he started put on headphones. I thought maybe he had a metronome to listen to. He played an unusual way, his left hand moved fluidly, his wrist bounced very freely, the music was blurry and quick and dynamic. It sounded sometimes very free, sometimes like it was adhering to a structure too hard for me to understand. When he started his second song it sounded the same as his first. It was all very interesting and not the usual thing I see/ hear. His left hand was particularly strong and surprising to me. After he sat down I asked if he was left handed. He laughed and said no one ever asked him that before and yes he was left handed. Made sense. I bet if no one ever asked before it just means there weren’t other pianists in the room watching.
