What stood out when I read Stan Getz’s Wikipedia was not that he collected such awesome young players in 1970 like Tony Williams, Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke, or the 60s hit collaborations with Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto but comments from people who had known him for many years like Bob Brookmeyer who said upon hearing he had heart surgery, “did they put one in?”
