Sometimes, you might be in the company of people who aren’t Beatle aficionados but recently viewed Get Back and now make authoritative comments like it’s all about Paul’s talent. I suspect even Paul would pity them. Last night while recording myself at the Tranzac playing Airplane On The Highway, in the next room the great Reg Schwager playing awesome effortless solos. I hoped not to be a rude other sound creeping in. Upon finishing it turned out three people snuck in and were sitting on the floor behind me seeming to enjoy this secret concert. In the morning Claudia Moore invited a friend to view us doing what we’ve done this winter. It is inescapable how the mind is aware of being observed (or at least this mind). All my performing life I’ve thought the objective is to try doing in front of people what I do when there’s no people but the thing is, as soon as there’s people it isn’t that space. It might be better instead to consider how the line in the sand gets drawn.
