Returned to working on Eugene Chadbourne’s lost record today, focussing on his song Cocaine For Children which is about sugar. His songs are very well written and I worked a couple hours editing and fine tuning the wonderful percussion Blake Howard recorded a few months back. I love that post recording space where I can pretend to be L. Stu Young and blow up the performance and match the one of the drummer with the one of the bassist and the one of whoever else, and then like a good piece of knitting, complete something that fits so well nobody realizes hours were poured into miniscule details exactly for this reason of appearing perfect. I also realized I need background vocals and am hoping to first try Kathryn and Andrea. Also inspired by the background vocal improvisations on We’re Only In It For The Money. Not sure anyone will understand me but it doesn’t really matter as long as I can explain myself while being nice.
