Student:I want to say something about someone in my song but I don’t want to get into trouble.
Teacher: Then don’t be a songwriter.
Student: But I like writing songs.
Teacher: Then make it about someone else’s opinion, make it a story and one of the characters says the thing you want to say.
Student: Does that work?
Teacher: Remember when you told me the Eagles were lame?
Student: Did I say that?
Teacher: You never found them powerful and the ending of that doc where Don Henley takes a jab at Neil Young you thought was especially cheap.
Student: Really, that was what I said?
Teacher: It’s ok I didn’t mind hearing your opinion.
