I showed my daughter the video to Nothin’ from Nothin’ by Billy Preston so she would know more about the man on the shirt she likes borrowing from me when she goes to bed, which says Billy Preston, Fifth Beatle. And in the video of Billy and three other musicians there was a moment when I heard a voice exactly like someone from the studio speaking to the artist and I thought it was an error that happened in the video. Then I happened to see there was a live version of him doing it on Soul Train. I watched it to to see if he dubbed it or not but it looked totally real or at least he totally played the solo and all the licks, not easy licks, absolutely right, swift four notes chords, great command of ragtime and swing…and then after the chorus following the solo there was the same studio voiceover. Hilarious. It must have always been on the track and who ever notices? Me and a thousand engineers that’s who. Maybe you too now, it’s awesome.
