the dream and part that watches

In my dream last night there was an alien force invading the Earth which made a certain sound upon entering spaces and murdered anything living or at least any humans living, if they made a sound. It was understood one needed to be silent in order for them to pass you by unharmed. When I think of it now there is a film with a similar premise, which I have not seen. It amazed me that I had this encounter when I woke up, not my usual dream. It was also fascinating that the alien’s form was a wind and a strobe light. I think a lot about the fact that you can’t watch yourself fall asleep. You can try but if you’re really asleep then you stopped being the thing that observes. Sleep doesn’t happen until that aspect of consciousness concedes. There is something similar between that and the part of mind that frightens itself, like on stage performing in front of five hundred people and you say to yourself how am I able to do this? And then you say to yourself I better stop asking questions like this. And then you say to yourself if I continue this dialogue I will screw up in front of five hundred people. Usually, through fear of embarrassment (at the very least) you stifle the inner anarchist’s voice. Would that be the proper way to interpret their position? They desire not working with the government, the government of “you”. They object even though very few support them. In unison all the other voices of the mind start screaming don’t do this! Don’t let us forget how to play the chorus in front of five hundred people! You are an asshole, go away! I think they usually win. It goes away.. but sometimes, like when I read about Daniel Johnston taking the key out of the airplane his father was flying them home in, then throwing it out the window. I remember that sometimes, some people dare to honour the anarchist no matter how much sense it might not be making. It is just that urgent to test the concept of who am I, who is in control, who’s dreaming who?
