In Winnipeg as a teenager (a short teenager) his show was held at the convention centre in a big concrete room with no chairs. It was a pretty cold characterless space and even though his music was mind-blowing, me and many others couldn’t see him and then from the stage using his voice box he started to sing/say “sit down” (with also a wah wah on the pronunciation). And everyone did. Thanks Jeff. I’ve read a lot of comments about Jeff Beck’s death. My favourite was on the thread on Bob Lefsetz’s newsletter, it was from a guy who wandered onto the side of the stage with his pitbull while Beck was soundchecking. Then the dog barked at him. The guy thought he might have to apologize to Jeff Beck but instead Beck just imitated the dog’s bark on his guitar, apparently rather perfectly.
