Went down a rabbit hole of being tickled by online t-shirts. If I get the professor position I will buy them, if I don’t I probably will also buy them, just fewer. Some that particularly got me had quotes like “corporation t-shirt” from I Am The Walrus or “Diller” which was a copy of Michael Jackson’s Thriller exchanging his face with Phyllis. Who can pass up such gold? Planning the class tomorrow. I still see confused expressions on the faces of business, law clerk and veterinary science students who thought this class on lyrics would be simple. I mean it is simple but they continue to wonder what they should be writing about despite me encouraging them to write about their lovers, their parents, their breakfast or this damn class. Tomorrow I plan to discuss metaphors, similes and allegories. The next assignment is listening to a playlist that includes songs from the ten records the course explores, as well as other songs I think useful for unique perspectives whether A Boy Named Sue or Soap Star Joe. They are supposed to select a couple examples of metaphor etc. and expand upon that. Probably I should wear my Big Kahuna Burger t-shirt and be a metaphor within a metaphor.
