Watching some lectures by Herbie Hancock. Superb understanding of music making and music explaining. He tells a great story about fucking up on tour with Miles Davis. In a certain song he played the wrong chord, it was a horrible clam and immediately he felt stupid and embarrassed. Miles reacted to it by playing something different which in turn made sense out of the piece and at first he wondered what happened. He finishes by saying it took him years to realize he was hung up about what was right and wrong but Miles just embraced what happened like a good improviser does.
