The research proposal was approved. That feels good. The criticism I received at first hurt and I just wanted to quit and walk away but got my head around the critic’s thinking. It is after all their world, the rules they practised for decades. Maybe what I have practised is how to not walk away and say fuck it, even if I don’t agree which is harder, but harder has its advantages. The new is sometimes exactly what it is all about. You try playing and singing in Eflat asshole, dare you. I played a concert one time, reopening AGO in the early 90s before the bigger renovation where they removed the unspeakably brilliant Henry Moore and replaced it with a naugahyde elephant sculpture which is like the radio once upon a time playing Tangled Up in Blue now playing Tyga or Jack Harlow, good luck world. And in that concert the other pianist did not embellish any ideas generated by me. Supposedly we were playing as two improvisers but the only way to make us sound coherent was if I backed up ideas initiated by him. So disappointing but to walk away and say fuck it is the easier way out.
