Students this week are writing about Daniel Ek, the creator of Spotify and the views that love it or hate it. Interesting the major record companies only agreed to permit it after making a deal where they take 70% of the streaming revenue leaving much less for the artists. I started watching Elaine May movies but can’t find a copy of Ishtar among all my academia subscriptions. They are pretty amazing subscriptions Kanopy, Criterion, BBC, CBC, TVO blah blah blah. I liked Mickey and Nicky, brilliant, especially Carol Grace and Ned Beatty playing the opposite of what he was in Deliverance. I do not know Cassavete films very well but enjoy him in this as an actor. Didn’t have any expectations of her comedy, A New Leaf, but turns out hilarious. What an interesting life, now in her 90s. Also liked her in Small Time Crooks in 2000 by Woody Allen. Glad to search Spotify and find her comedy records with Mike Nichols waiting there to be discovered, pleased Spotify is like an audio library.
